DC Kathua reviews implementation of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act
District Committee approves quantum of relief in registered cases
KATHUA, February 16: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting of District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee (DLVMC) to review the implementation of SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989.
The meeting held a threadbare discussion and reviewed various measures to be taken at district level for proper implementation of SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The measures which were discussed include reporting precautionary & preventive measures, atrocities & punishment, punishment for giving false evidence, Special Court, compensation to victims, supervision of prosecution SC/ST Protection Cell and measures to be taken by District Administration.
On the occasion, the Committee held detailed deliberations on the cases that come under the provisions of SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 and decided a quantum of the relief on the basis of merit of the case. The DC directed all the members to ensure implementation of all the measures in letter and spirit.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal; RTO, Sunil Kumar; ACR, Kathua Vishav Pratap Singh; Nodal Officer, Seema Bharti; Chief Prosecuting Officer; District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Rahim; CEO, P L Thapa and other members.
