DC Kathua reviews progress in weeding out ineligible NFSA beneficiaries
KATHUA, JULY 22: In a concerted effort to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) beneficiary data, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Rakesh Minhas chaired a meeting today at the DC Office complex to review the progress in the ongoing exercise of weeding out of ineligible beneficiaries.
The meeting held in the conference hall was attended by ADDC Kathua Surinder Mohan, ACR Kathua Vishav Pratap Singh, ACD Akhil Sadotra, AD FCS & CA, AC Kathua, Tehsildars, BDOs and TSOs.
Dr. Minhas took a firsthand appraisal of the achievements made so far in the purification of the NFSA beneficiary list and the elimination of ineligible beneficiaries as notified by the government. He emphasized the importance of coordination between the officers of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department, BDOs and Tehsildars in conducting thorough door-to-door surveys. “These surveys are essential for the accurate identification and subsequent removal of ineligible names from the NFSA data”, he added.
The DC highlighted the crucial roles Panchayat Secretaries and Patwaris will play in ensuring the campaign’s success, aiming to achieve error-free data. During the meeting, it was revealed that data from over 1.5 lakh families would be authenticated in this process, with the target completion date set for July 28th. The proactive involvement of all stakeholders is crucial for meeting this deadline.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to ensure the exclusion of all government employees and other ineligible categories from the NFSA beneficiary list, as per the government’s notification. He stressed that this is essential to prevent any misuse of benefits and ensure that the scheme’s resources are utilized efficiently and effectively, reaching only the genuine beneficiaries.
To ensure a seamless and efficient execution, Deputy Commissioner entrusted ACR, ACD and AD FCS&CA Kathua with the responsibility of fostering synergy among all field functionaries. By working in harmony, this collaborative effort will guarantee the accuracy and integrity of NFSA data, ultimately benefiting the district’s rightful beneficiaries.
