DC Kathua reviews status of RDD sector works
Stresses on quality asset creation, thorough physical inspection & regular monitoring
KATHUA, September 02: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting to review the implementation and progress achieved under the Rural Development sector schemes in the District.
The meeting was attended by the ADDC, Ankur Mahajan; Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, XEN REW, BDOs, and other concerned officers.
While reviewing the scheme wise works taken up by RDD, the DC laid thrust on early completion of already tendered works so as to achieve set targets within given timelines.
The DC directed ACP to prioritize SBM works including construction of household toilets so that all the eligible beneficiaries get benefitted of the scheme.
While discussing the establishment of Plastic Waste Management units in the district, the DC called upon ACP to work out a plan for arranging necessary machinery and other logistics to be installed at seven identified locations.
Earlier, the ACP Kathua apprised the meeting that out of 16 tendered works for construction of segregation sheds under SBM 12 works have been completed and remaining 4 works are to be completed by 2nd October 2023.
While giving details of taken up works of soak and compost pits, the ACP informed that as many as 88 soak pits and 64 compost pits have been completed and work on remaining soak pits and compost pits is going on in full swing.
The ACP also gave a brief account of best practices adopted by the Rural Development department under SBM which includes construction of Pink toilets, community sanitary plants, Gobardhan plants etc.
The DC also asked for regular review of works undertaken by BDOs so as to keep a check on the pace of progress and necessary directions may be given to expedite the work completion. He also passed directions for identifying
