DC Kathua reviews status of Rural Development Sector Works, Schemes

KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 20: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting to review the implementation and progress achieved under the Rural Development sector schemes in the District.

The meeting was attended by the ADDC, Ankur Mahajan; Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh; Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch; XEN REW, BDOs,, and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, ACD apprised the DC that a total of 2082 Capex works were ear marked under DDC, BDC and PRI grants out of which tendering of 1823 has been completed. 

Regarding the progress of Amrit Sarovar works, the ACD informed that work is in progress on 185 Water Ponds and the same will be completed before the timeline.

While reviewing the scheme wise works taken up by RDD, the DC laid thrust on early completion of already tendered works so as to achieve set targets within given timelines. The DC also passed directions to BDOs and XEN REW to cancel the allotment of defaulting contractors who have failed to start the work as per given timeframe.

Besides, the DC also impressed upon BDOs to ensure early completion of PMAY houses taken up under their jurisdiction. 

While discussing the establishment of Plastic Waste Management units in the district, the DC called upon BDOs to work out a plan for arranging necessary machinery and other logistics to be installed at identified locations. He also asked for regular review of works undertaken by BDOs so as to keep a check on the pace of progress and necessary directions may be given to expedite the ensure timely work completion.
