DC Kathua visits flood affected areas to assess damages, assures robust measures to prevent such incidents

KATHUA, July 13: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas today conducted an extensive tour of the flood-affected areas of the district and took stock of the damages. 

The DC, accompanied by DDC Marheen, Karan Attri, visited Shabbe Chack, Tang Dev Pura, Kandwal, Salalpur, Kote Punnu and other flood affected areas to assess the situation and to get first-hand appraisal of the situation. The Executive Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control, officers of Revenue, Mining and Police departments were also present. 

During the inspection in the flood-prone areas, the DC directed Flood Control authorities to formulate a temporary plan for restoration of embankments to safeguard the habitations falling near Ujh and Bhag nallas. He stressed upon the concerned departments to stay vigilant in case of any eventuality.

The DC assured the affected people that the district administration, in collaboration with Irrigation and Flood Control Department, would devise robust and appropriate Flood Control measures to safeguard the lives and properties of the inhabitants residing in catchment areas of the rivers/ nallahs.
