DC kick-starts Vaccination drive for Hajj pilgrims at GMC Baramulla
1312 Selected Hajj pilgrims being vaccinated at 6 designated Vaccination Counters across district
BARAMULLA, MAY 16: The vaccination camps for selected Hajj pilgrims were today held across Baramulla district after Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar kick-started the drive from Government Medical College Baramulla, here.
Dr Sehrish in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Amod Ashok Nagpure, Principal GMC Baramulla, (Prof) Dr Rubi Reshi, Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Yousuf Rather and Medical Superintendent GMC Parveez Masood took stock of the vaccination process and inspected the arrangements put in place to facilitate the pilgrims of Baramulla district.
On the occasion, Principal GMC Baramulla informed DC that the vaccination for Meningococcal Meningitis, Poliomyelitis and Seasonal Influenza (SIV) are being administered to the Hajj Pilgrims for which doctors and authorities of Haj Committee have opened special counter across the district.
District Immunization Officer, Wahida Firdous briefed that 1312 people of the district have been selected for the Hajj 2023 and are being vaccinated at different vaccination counters designated at SDH Uri for Block Boniyar and Uri, Watergam Trauma Hospital for Dangiwacha and Rohama, SDH Sopore for Sopore sub-division, SDH Pattan for Block Pattan and Kreeri, SDH Tangmarg for Block Kunzer and Tangmarg.
While interacting with the pilgrims, the DC said that the vaccination aims to protect the Hajj pilgrims from various infections, ensure their health and safety, and protect them from any contagious disease.
She also congratulated selected pilgrims for being selected for Hajj and advised them to take care of their health.
Interacting with the Hajj-2023 Pilgrims, SSP Baramulla and Principal GMC also congratulated them for the Holy Hajj-2023 and urged them to pray for the well-being and prosperity of the people.
Meanwhile, it was informed that a team of doctors will accompany the pilgrims to facilitate them during the Hajj.
