DC Kishtwar Chairs District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting
KISHTWAR, JANUARY 14: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar (Chairman DRSC, RTA & RAVF) Dr Devansh Yadav today chaired meeting of the District Road Safety Committee.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Kishtwar Sham Lal, ADC Kishori Lal Sharma, ASP Rajinder Singh, ARTO Kishtwar Romesh Smotra; Tehsildar Kishtwar Umar Muneeb, CMO Dr Chander Parkash, CEO Sudarshan Kumar, Executive Engineer PMGSY Mohinder Kumar, representatives of concerned departments, NHIDCL and BRO.
During the meeting, DC took stock of the progress in the implementation of road safety measures, Road Safety Act, identification of Black Spots, Erection of crash barriers, Road Safety Audit of all major Roads, identification and establishment of Trauma Centres, fixation of road signage, speed limit & traffic calming measures and establishment of Road Safety Club in Schools/Colleges.
It was informed in the meeting that the Road Safety Audit of existing roads of district Kishtwar is under progress. DC Kishtwar directed all concerned Engineers and authorities to expedite the ongoing process of road safety audit and complete it in time frame manner to strengthen road safety infrastructure and to make required improvements.
While reviewing the progress on the identification and rectification of black spots, concerned department besides NHIDCL and BRO authorities were directed to rectify black spots, provide crash barriers, Road Signage’s and other Traffic regulating measures especially in accident-prone areas which shall be identified and focused upon, to minimize accidents.
DC Kishtwar also directed to constitute a committee under the supervision of ASP Kishtwar involving ARTO and Executive Engineers on the identification of black spots in accordance with the new guidelines issued and submit the list in his office.
All the stakeholders were directed to work in a coordinated manner to achieve the tangible results in the implementation of road safety measures in the district.
Further, DC Kishtwar stressed for conducting regular Awareness programs/ Work Shops in all Educational institutions and also establish road safety clubs to create Road Safety Awareness among School/College Students and public at large.
During the meeting, the progress under the Anti-encroachments drive launched in the district was also taken and a number of instructions were given to concerned Officers.
DC Kishtwar gave special thrust on the identification and creation of more parking spaces in the Kishtwar town and remove the encroachments on state land and alongside the national Highway from Bus stand up to new DC office Complex Kishtwar to tackle the growing traffic congestion.
