DC Kishtwar Chairs NCORD committee meeting

KISHTWAR, February 23: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav today chaired the monthly meeting of District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) here in his office chamber and reviewed the steps taken to curb drug abuse in the district.

The meeting was attended by SSP, Khalil Ahmed Poswal; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kishori Lal Sharma; SDM Chatroo, Inderjeet Singh Parihar; SDM Paddar/DPO ICDS, Dr. Rishi Kumar Sharma; DFO Kishtwar, Sagar Singh; DFO Marwah, Vijay Kumar; District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. M Y Mir; State Taxes Officer, Maneet Sharma besides representative of Excise department.

At the outset, the ADC presented the action taken report on the decisions taken in the previous meeting.

 Listing the action taken by the police department, the SSP said that police and other security agencies have adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug suppliers and traffickers and intensified their vigil.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned Officers to devise a comprehensive plan to reach-out to the drug affected persons for their rehabilitation.

The DSWO and CMO were directed to conduct awareness activities under the Nasha Mukht Panchayat Abhiyan.

He also directed the concerned officers to utilise the services of ASHA workers, PRIs, to develop a database of drug addicts to pave way for their rehabilitation through full activation of the District Drugs De-addiction centre established in the District Hospital.

During the meeting, the DC stressed upon the Officers of all the line Departments, including Enforcement agencies to ensure better coordination in enforcing greater deterrence to combat dangerous trade of drug-trafficking. He said that efforts with cooperation, coordination and collaboration are vital to contain the drug peddling and break the supply chain, besides taking stringent action against the culprits involved in the hazardous trade of drugs.

The DC asked for a multi-pronged Rehabilitation, Counselling and Guidance policy to be implemented on ground to monitor drug abuse and take remedial measures to curb the menace.
