DC Kishtwar discusses activity plan for Int’l Yoga Day 2024 Celebration
KISHTWAR, MAY 30: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav chaired a pivotal meeting today with key stakeholder departments to discuss and finalize the activity plan for celebration of International Yoga Day 2024, falling on June 21st.
The DC emphasized the importance of involving all stakeholders, including the AYUSH Department, Youth Services and Sports Department, Prominent Sports persons, school students and general public to generate widespread awareness for active participation in the yoga sessions planned across the district.
He highlighted the necessity of organizing pre-event yoga sessions in educational institutions, Hydro-electric power project sites and police lines to build momentum ahead of the main event.
Dr. Devansh Yadav stressed the need for a comprehensive plan that includes detailed yoga session schedules and demonstrations to educate participants on yoga practices and their benefits.
DC also underscored the significance of utilizing the pristine tourist destinations like Devigol and BimalNag for the Yoga Day celebrations, engaging both tourists and locals in these scenic locations.
The main venue for the International Yoga Day celebration will be the Chowgan Ground in Kishtwar. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the District Youth Services & Sports Department, AYUSH Department, School Education Department, Jal Shakti and Municipal Council Kishtwar to collaborate closely. Their collective efforts will focus on ensuring the cleanliness of the venue and township, providing clean drinking water, and setting up adequate seating and other necessary arrangements. Additionally, there will be stalls showcasing yoga, Ayurveda and alternative medicines to educate and inform attendees.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar was tasked with coordinating the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at District Hospital Kishtwar. The goal is to organize fortnight-long yoga sessions for recovery patients at the ATF, including motivational sessions where patients can share their experiences and the benefits they have gained from practicing yoga.
The Police authorities were also directed to ensure that yoga sessions are conducted for jail inmates, recognizing the rehabilitative potential of yoga for individuals in correctional facilities.
Dr. Yadav concluded the meeting by reiterating the importance of a well-coordinated effort to make International Yoga Day 2024 a grand success in Kishtwar. He called for active participation from all departments and urged them to leave no stone unturned in making the event memorable and impactful for the community.
The meeting was also attended by ADDC, ADC, ASP, ACR, ACD, DIO, CMO, CEO, District Nodal Officer Ayush, representatives from Army, HEP Project Authorities besides other concerned.
