DC Kishtwar launches Swachhta Drive at Chowgan Ground

KISHTWAR, AUGUST 04: In a significant stride towards promoting cleanliness and environmental consciousness, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav launched an extensive Swachhta Drive at historical Chowgan Ground under the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada of the “Suchita Sangram” initiative.


This event marked the third consecutive day of the Swachhta Pakhwada campaign in the district, aimed at fostering a culture of cleanliness and civic responsibility.


The Chowgan Ground, a central and iconic park in Kishtwar town, was chosen for this drive due to its prominence as a communal space frequented by residents and visitors alike.


The initiative aims not only to maintain the cleanliness of this vital area but also to raise awareness among the public about the importance of preserving such historical and environmental assets.


The presence of senior officials including ADDC, Ghulam Rasool, ACD, Phulail Singh, BDO, Sanjeev Kotwal and EO Municipality Amit Choudary, alongside prominent local figures, NGO representatives, locals, media persons underscored the community’s commitment to this cause.


Leading by example, the team spearheaded by DC actively participated in the cleanup efforts, meticulously collecting litter and garbage, which were then appropriately disposed of by municipal vehicles.


During the event, the DC engaged with the locals, shopkeepers and hawkers around the ground, emphasizing the importance of proper waste disposal and discouraging the practice of littering in and around the park.


He urged the community to exhibit civic responsibility and protect the heritage of Kishtwar, highlighting the Chowgan Ground as a source of pride and an environmental asset for the town’s inhabitants. He cautioned that strict actions would be taken against those who compromise the beauty and ecological integrity of this historical site.


The initiative received an overwhelmingly positive response from the public. Visitors to the Chowgan Ground and locals commended the Deputy Commissioner for his proactive approach in instilling environmental concerns and promoting cleanliness habits.
