DC Kulgam & MD JJM review progress of works under JJM; emphasize timely completion & target achievement

KULGAM, JUNE 26: To evaluate the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan and Mission Director Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Dr. G.N. Itoo today co-chaired a meeting with concerned officers of the Jal Shakti Department at Dak Bungalow Chawalgam.


During the meeting, the DC and Mission Director reviewed both the physical and financial progress of the works being executed under the JJM in the district.


A detailed PowerPoint presentation revealed that a 52466 number of households have been provided with potable water connections to date, working towards the set target of 61,167 households.


It was also disclosed that under JJM, the district has a total of 143 schemes encompassing 213 works, with several works already completed.


Discussions also focused on measures for water quality monitoring and the surveillance system. The meeting was informed that Kulgam district is equipped with three testing laboratories where drinking water quality tests are conducted. Additionally, 548 women across the district have been trained with Field Testing Kits (FTKs) to conduct water sample tests, ensuring the supply of quality water.


Emphasizing the importance of JJM as a flagship program aimed at covering all households, officers were instructed to work in coordination to ensure the smooth execution of JJM works in their respective areas.


Various issues and bottlenecks impeding the speedy completion of few projects were comprehensively discussed during the meeting.


DC and MD JJM instructed the concerned to ensure timely completion and target achievement under Jal Jeevan Mission.


The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Wani; Joint Director Planning, Zahid Sajad; Executive Engineers, and other officers.


Earlier Addigen Water Supply Scheme, costing 3.8 crore, was dedicated to the people.


Meanwhile, MD JJM also inspected several JJM works in the district during his visit.
