DC Kupwara hands-over Rs.12 lakh cheque to fish farmer for establishment of Trout Feed Mill
KUPWARA, JANUARY 7: In a significant step towards promoting sustainable aquaculture and enhancing the fisheries sector in District Kupwara, the first-ever Trout Feed Mill has been established under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
This project, valued at Rs.30 lakh, has received a subsidy of Rs.12 lakh, marking a major milestone in the region’s efforts to boost fish farming and improve the livelihoods of local fish farmers.
The cheque for the project was handed over to the fish farmer by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan in presence of Assistant Director Fisheries Kupwara.
The establishment of the Trout Feed Mill will play a crucial role in providing high-quality feed for trout farming, which is a key component of the region’s aquaculture industry.
This initiative aligns with the central government’s goal of promoting fisheries and aquaculture under the PMMSY scheme, ensuring food security, creating employment opportunities, and increasing the income of fish farmers across the country.
This development marks a new chapter in the growth of District Kupwara’s fisheries industry, and it is hoped that it will lead to increased production, better quality fish, and a significant improvement in the livelihoods of the local community.
