DC Kupwara inaugurates Amritsarovar River front at Kupwara
KUPWARA, MARCH 25: Deputy Commissioner (DC)Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray today inaugurated Amritsarovar River front at Goos in Kupwara district which has been constructed by Rural Development department under MGNREGA with a project cost of Rs 17.89 lacs.
River front Amritsarovar has been constructed at the gateway of Lolab valley and presents a picturesque scene because of lush green forests and gushing water of Nallah Lolab and has become an attraction for local residents and visitors due to its scenic beauty and recreational facilities.
BDC chairman, Hayhama, Ali Mohammad Sheikh, ACD Kupwara, Hilal Ahmad Mir, BDO Haihama Dr. Tariq Ahmad Padder were present at the occasion.
Facilities of a recreational LED park with laser-show, open Gymnasium, cafeteria, walk-way and a floating restaurant are being constructed near the river front. These facilities are being constructed under convergence with the tourism department and flood control department.
River front is already having reservoir, seating facilities, boating facilities, fishing and sightseeing of flora and fauna of nearby forest area.
On the occasion Deputy Commissioner while stressing on the need of convergence for different programmes and schemes said that “Due to convergence of different schemes we are successful in making it a beautiful tourist attraction which can provide recreational facility and employment to the unemployed youth of the area” Deputy Commissioner said adding that
“We have identified 40 places in Kupwara district where such river fronts will be developed”
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara said that there are several beautiful places like Lolab, Keran, Tangdhar, Teetwal, Bungas, Drangyadi and Macil in Kupwara district which have great potential for tourism related activities.
“In the coming days we expect good footfall of tourists in the district owing to its natural beauty tourism potential, particularly border tourism” DC said.
The Spot chosen for water front Amritsarovar at Goos is very beautiful, mesmerizing and picturesque and covered by thick , green forests . Gushing water of Lolab Nallah is adding to the beauty of the spot and is attracting every passerby, besides this place is gateway of Lolab valley.
On the occasion Deputy Commissioner asked the ACD Kupwara to organize the plantation drive on empty places of the river front and construct a walk-way upto Goos village.
