DC launches Deworming drive in Kathua district
KATHUA, August 10: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rakesh Minhas today launched the 2nd round of the deworming drive by administering deworming tablets to the school children of Govt. Middle School Kalibari.
The programme is being observed across districts under the banner of National Health Mission.
CMO Kathua Dr. Rakesh Magotra, HeadMaster of the School and RBSK Mobile Health Team, Nagri Parole besides students in large numbers were present on the occasion.
The DC while highlighting the significance of the programme stressed for better coordination for the overall success of the drive and exhorted upon educating people at grassroots level and said that other vulnerable sections should be included in the programme.
While interacting with the students the DC said Deworming helps in improving the nutrition level and learning abilities of children in addition to improving the overall health of children. He said school education and the health department have a huge role in spreading awareness among the children about maintaining good hygiene.
The DC also appealed people to cooperate with the Health teams for 100% coverage of Govt and Pvt.schools besides all Anganwadi Centres during the campaign from 10th to 17th August 23 to reduce Anemia and Malnutrition in children caused by intestinal Worms.
After kickstarting the deworming drive, the DC also distributed Albendazole tablets among the students of Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua during an interaction session at the conference hall of the DC office complex.
