DC Leh Santosh Sukhadeve chairs preparatory meeting for the events to be held under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign
Leh, July 28: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting of all concerned officers to review the preparations for different programs to be held under “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign- from 9 to 15 August marking the culmination of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the district at DC mini Conference Hall.
At the outset, DC was briefed about the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign including its components viz. Deep Dive-Silaphalakam, Vasudha Vandhan (planting 75 saplings), Veeron Ka Vandan, Hoisting of National Flag and Singing of Rashtra Gaan and Panch Pran Pledge, etc.
He directed the departments to conduct impactful celebrations of Independence Day under the national theme across district as per guidelines issued by the Government and informed that nodal officers will be appointed who will take responsibility for each program.
Further, he emphasized the concerned departments to prepare in advance for the successful observance of this program. He also emphasized on the wide publicity of this campaign and urged that ULBs must organize events and extend full cooperation for the successful implementation of the campaign.
It was further informed that Maati-Yatras from 95 Panchayats of the district will be taken to from blocks and would be collected in an earthen urn for forward journey to New Delhi for construction of the National Memorial at Kartavya Path.
Additionally, it was decided that for the shilaphalakam, names of the freedom fighters and martyrs will be inscribed on the memorial plaque in local language in every panchayat. Along with that, people of all age groups, gender, and profession will take part in the panch pran pledge in traditional clothes and maati diyas in hand, which will be procured from Self-help groups, at a symbolic site of Col Rinchen Chowk. Further, it was decided that hoisting of flags and singing of national anthem will also be undertaken at each program site.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer; Chief Education Officer; Executive Officer, MC Leh; Deputy Director, NYK Leh; District Youth Services and Sports Officer as well as Block Development Officer Leh.
