DC Poonch chairs District level NCORD Meeting, discusses measures to curb drug menace
POONCH, JUNE 12: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary chaired a district level NCORD meeting to review the action taken regarding prevention of the menace of drugs and review drug de-addiction strategies.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik, Senior Superintendent of Police, Vinay Sharma, PO ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa, Assiatant Commissioner Revenue, Zahir Ahmed Kaifi, SDM Mendhar, Jahangir Khan, SDM Surankote, Rizwan Asgar, Principal Dwgree College Poonch, Dr.Jasbir Singh, Principal Degree College Surankote, Prof.Rani Mughal, Principal Degree College Mendhar, Dr.Mohd Azam besides all tehsildars and concerned officers were present.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the district social welfare officer, Mohinder Paul and concerned officers to install hoardings, pamphlets, and conduct IEC activities to raise awareness among the public about the ill-effects of drug abuse and promote a Nasha-mukta (drug-free) lifestyle. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized on the need for demonstrative action to be taken against drug peddlers.
The Principals of all degree colleges also attended the meeting and the DC directed them to hold regular parent-teacher meetings to educate the students about the dangers of drug abuse. The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the colleges to constitute a committee to monitor the addicted students and help them to overcome.
The Tehsildars were directed to constitute village-level and Panchayat-level committees for proper reporting of peddlers.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the drug inspector to digitize all drug records and install CCTV cameras in all medical shops to monitor the sale of drugs.
The Education department was instructed to constitute school-level committees and hold regular meetings with students to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and promote a Nasha-mukta lifestyle.
The Deputy Commissioner urged everyone to work together to make the district of Poonch drug-free and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
