DC Poonch chairs DLRSC meet

POONCH, SEPTEMBER 29: In a significant move to enhance road safety measures in the Poonch district, District Development Commissioner, Poonch and Chairman of the Road Safety Committee, Vikas Kundal today chaired District Level Road Safety Committee (DLRSC) meeting at DC Office here.


The meeting witnessed participation from various departments crucial to implementing road safety measures.


Addressing the officers during the meeting, the DC emphasized on the need for multi-faceted approach to road safety, directing officials to focus on identifying and rectifying accident-prone areas, intensifying measures against drunk driving, curbing instances of rash driving, overloading, over speeding and preventing dangerous stunts on public roads.


The DC stressed on importance of regular road safety reviews and called for increased coordination between the Traffic Police, Roads and Transport Department and other relevant agencies. He urged officials to launch awareness campaigns targeting various road user groups, including drivers, pedestrians, and students.


“Road safety is a shared responsibility,” stated Vikas Kundal, adding that while we strengthen enforcement and improve infrastructure, it is equally crucial to cultivate a culture of responsible driving among our citizens.


During the meeting, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Poonch, Tara Mani, provided a comprehensive briefing on the initiatives undertaken by the Roads and Transport Department, highlighting efforts to implement safe driving measures and improve road infrastructure.
