DC Poonch chairs NCORD meet
POONCH, MARCH 23: Deputy Commissioner Poonch,Yasin M. Choudhary today chaired a meeting of district-level committee operating under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) here in the conference hall of DC Office here.
The meeting was held to evaluate the progress made on implementing prior directives issued during the NCORD meeting and to deliberate on various measures aimed at curbing drug abuse and illicit narcotics trade in the district.
During the meeting, the SSP provided a comprehensive update on the actions taken to tackle the alarming issue of drug addiction in the district.
Several vital topics were discussed during the meeting like prevalence of drug addiction, identifying areas with high instances of drug abuse, monitoring and training initiatives at the Panchayat level concerning drugs, efforts to raise awareness through street-level banners about drug de-addiction, and other measures being undertaken throughout the district.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all concerned to focus on declaring more Panchayats as “Nasha Mukt” (Drug-Free) and to conduct regular meetings of the Panchayat Level Committees.
The Drug Inspector was instructed to ensure installation of CCTV cameras in all chemist shops and associated locations, with zero-tolerance policy in place for non-compliance. He called for cancelling licenses of establishments failing to comply with rules and regulations.
The Principals of Degree Colleges were directed to organize awareness programs on drug de-addiction.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Social Welfare Officer to display street-level banners that effectively generate awareness about the ill effects of drugs, targeting the general public and youth.
