DC Poonch reviews measures to curb drug abuse at NARCO Coordination Committee meet
POONCH, FEBRUARY 13: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Inder Jeet today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the NARCO Coordination (NCORD) to discuss different measures to curb drug abuse in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police, Mushim Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi, SDM Mendhar, Mohammad Jahangir Khan, SDM Surankote, Rizwan Asgar, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anis-A-Nabi, Chief Agriculture Officer, Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Tehsildar Mandi, Shazad Latief Khan, Tehsildar Surankote, Akbar Hussain, District Social Welfare Officer, Mohinder Paul, DEPO, N.M Suri, Range Officer, Javid Iqbal, Naib Tehsildar Haveli, Maroof Khan, Tehsil Social welfare Officer, Mohd. Azam Rather, Drugs Inspector, Counsellor, Dr. Tafeez Akhter besides other concerned officers were present.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief agriculture officer to destroy the poppy cultivation wherever exists and ensure zero poppy crops in the district
The Education and Social Welfare Department were directed to organise campaign / IEC activities and also to take out rallies against the drug menace. He further said that all the Narcotic drugs shops around the school should be closed.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the drug inspectors to provide the list of patients who have been given such drugs on medical prescription within week time. The CMO was directed to ensure that all the chemists/ Druggists maintain proper record of the sale of drugs to the needy patients and provisioning only on the basis of authorized medical prescription.
