DC presides over weekly Block Diwas at Udhampur

Listens to scores of public issues, demands

UDHAMPUR, August 23: To take governance to the doorsteps of people and to speed up the grievances redressal mechanism at all levels, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Saloni Rai today conducted a weekly block Diwas programme at Block Development Office Udhampur.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia; District Panchayat Officer, Dr Manmeet Kumar; PRI members and district officers of  other departments participated in the weekly Block Diwas program.

PRI members and local people hailing from different Panchayats of Block Udhampur projected several demands and issues of public importance.

 They demanded Upgradation of Middle school Mageni to High School, Early completion of Sansoo to Chopra shop alternate  link road, Maintenance of Cable wire and electric poles, Opening of ration depot, Implementation of JJM scheme, Dilapidated conditions of various link roads, Scarcity of drinking water , Construction of boundary wall and Play field, PHC Gandala functioning  without govt building, Establishment of Veterinary centre, Maintenance of internal roads, Black topping of various link roads, Opening of Salmay bridge for passenger vehicles, Immediate release of old pension, Repairing of Solar lights etc.

Responding to the demands, the DC assured PRI members that all their genuine issues would be addressed in a time bound manner. The DC also extended her best wishes to all the PRI members as well as local people for participating in the weekly Block Diwas programme.

While interacting with the PRIs and general public, the DC said that the main objective of this public outreach programme is to take a firsthand appraisal of important issues of grass root level. She added that these outreach camps help reach governance at the door steps of the public which improves the public service delivery mechanism.

The DC asked the officers to note down   the demands and redress them on priority basis and directed them to work in coordination for equitable development of all Panchayats in the district. Necessary directions were issued to all the officers to organize awareness camps in their respective areas so that the general public can avail the benefits of various centrally Sponsored schemes.
