DC Pulwama charts course for Archeological revival of sites in district
PULWAMA, DECEMBER 19: A meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom(IAS), to steer the District Level Coordination Cum Implementation Committee formulated to strategize the revival, restoration, preservation, and maintenance of the region’s rich architecture and heritage.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama led a comprehensive review, scrutinizing finalized sites earmarked for archaeological restoration within the district. A detailed discussion unfolded, dissecting component-wise tasks and responsibilities. Emphasizing a collective effort, the Deputy Commissioner urged the committee, formulated by the Government for this purpose, to collaborate seamlessly in the formulation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).
Highlighting the significance of historical accuracy, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that archaeological restoration should be anchored in photographic evidence, literary sources, and thorough documentation. These pillars, he asserted, would form the bedrock for the successful revival and preservation of archaeological sites in the District.
A concrete timeline was established for the formulation of DPRs, underscoring the commitment to advance the restoration initiatives expeditiously. The meeting was attended by ADC Pulwama, ACD Pulwama, CPO Pulwama, Exen R&B, officers from the Archaeology Department, and other District officers.
