DC Pulwama kicks-off National Road Safety Month-2024 with a vision for ‘Zero Accident Related Mortality’
PULWAMA, JANUARY 15: In a solemn inauguration ceremony at the Administrative Complex Pulwama, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom today spearheaded the commencement of National Road Safety Month-2024.
This significant event saw the convergence of key figures, including SSP Pulwama and ARTO Pulwama, symbolizing a unified front in the pursuit of heightened road safety standards.
Articulating the ambitious objectives of the month-long initiative, DC outlined a comprehensive strategy including a multifaceted approach encompassing road safety awareness campaigns, meticulous vehicle fitness evaluations, and health checkups for drivers throughout the duration of the month. The overarching goal as emphasised was to achieve zero accident related mortality in the upcoming year.
Addressing the pressing issue of congestion, DC urged the public to abstain from illegal parking as a pivotal step towards congestion mitigation. He stressed the need for consistent enforcement and also called for a collective effort.
The DC recognized and applauded the pivotal role of stakeholders, particularly commending the invaluable support of trade unions. He underscored the media’s influential role in amplifying the awareness campaign.
