DC Rajouri flags off Millet Walkathon to promote healthy eating habits
RAJOURI, October 16: To commemorate the International Year of Millets 2023 and in a bid to promote healthy eating habits and raise awareness about the importance of millets in our diet, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, enthusiastically flagged off the Millet Walkathon as part of the Eat Right Challenge Campaign.
The event was organised by the Food and Drug Administration Department in collaboration with the Agriculture Department. The event witnessed the participation of numerous students who were eager to spread the message of nutritious eating.
The rally commenced from the premises of the DC office complex and culminated at Gujjar Mandi. Along the route, the students showcased their enthusiasm and commitment to fostering a culture of healthy living.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner shared his thoughts on the significance of incorporating millets into our daily meals. He emphasized the nutritional benefits of millets, underscoring their role in maintaining good health. Deputy Commissioner encouraged everyone to embrace these wholesome grains as a part of their regular diet.
Joining Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal were Chief Agriculture Officer, Sohan Singh and Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, who both shared their insights on the importance of food safety standards and the role of millets in a balanced diet.
