DC Rajouri reviews enforcement of measures to control illegal mining
RAJOURI, MAY 24: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting of the Multi Departmental District level Task Force to discuss measures to be taken to curb illegal mining in the district.
Discussing the impact of illegal mining on the environment, the DC said that unplanned and excessive mining causes irreparable damage to the environment and there is a dire need to stop in the larger public interest.
Several issues including the need to strengthen police nakas to check e-challans of vehicles transporting minor minerals etc were discussed threadbare in the meeting. The DC also reviewed the status of action taken against the persons found indulged in illegal mining wherein the DMO briefed the chair about the same.
He asked the concerned departments to step up vigil to keep check on illegal mining of minor minerals and take strict action against those found indulged in the illegal mining practices.
He also emphasized the need to coordinate activities among various enforcement wings and pushed for zero tolerance towards illegal mining. DC asked the concerned to take effective steps for checking illegal mining and ensure that systematic and scientific mining is done in the district.
He further warned that any illegitimate mining activity in the district will not go unnoticed and action as warranted under law will be taken against the culprits.
