DC Rajouri reviews functioning of Social Welfare & ICDS Department

RAJOURI, JULY 19: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat today chaired a comprehensive meeting to review the functioning of the Social Welfare and ICDS Department in the district.


The meeting aimed to ensure effective implementation of various social welfare schemes and programs. He took a detailed stock of the progress made under various welfare initiatives, including Pension Schemes, State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), distribution of prosthetic aids, scholarship programs, etc. The review also covered key institutions like the Drug De-Addiction Center, One Stop Center for Women, ‘Parisha’ and ‘Palaash’, and the cradle baby reception center.

The District Social Welfare Officer presented a detailed account of facilities and services provided by the department.


Other important schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), Mission Vatsalya, Skill Development Courses, and various awareness programs were also reviewed comprehensively.


The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for effective implementation, directing officers to work with added zeal and ensure benefits reach the intended beneficiaries on the ground. He also took a comprehensive review of the working of ICDS Department. It was briefed that, there are 1669 anganwadi centers in the district. The discussion highlighted the remarkable efforts of the department in nurturing maternal and child health through various schemes. The utilization of the Poshan Tracker App, which provides real-time insights into the status of Anganwadi centers, was also reviewed.


The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Maqsood Ahmed, District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Raheem, Child Development Project Officers and Tehsil Social Welfare Officers.
