DC Rajouri reviews progress on JJM projects
RAJOURI, April 07: Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal reviewed the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes in a meeting with concerned officers today in which Superintending Engineer Hydraulics informed that out of 293 approved schemes, work has been allotted for 259 schemes and 102 schemes are already in progress.
The DC was informed that laying of the piped network has been progressing well, with 979 km of piped network already laid against the target of 13,520 km.
Kundal urged the officers to ensure that work on all allotted schemes begins as soon as possible and stressed that the successful implementation of JJM will provide access to safe drinking water to the rural population and positively impact their health, hygiene and overall socio-economic development.
The meeting also discussed the status of ongoing projects in the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) sector. Kundal stressed the importance of proper maintenance and regular cleaning of irrigation kulhs to prevent clogging and ensure uninterrupted water flow for irrigation. He also emphasised effective management of water resources for sustainable development.
