DC Ramban inspects restoration work on NH-44, reviews essential services in Banihal
RAMBAN, MARCH 1: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, along with SSP, Kulbir Singh, and SSP Traffic National Highway Rohit Baskotra, inspected the restoration work on NH-44 from Ramban to Banihal after recent rain and snowfall across the district.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner held detailed discussions with both SSPs regarding measures taken to facilitate smooth movement of traffic from either side. He directed executing agencies to accelerate maintenance work, particularly at vulnerable spots like Mehar, emphasizing protection measures to maintain the width of the existing road and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow on the National Highway. He was informed that traffic has been restored, with priority given to passenger vehicles.
The Deputy Commissioner advised travelers to follow traffic advisories issued by the Traffic Department before commencing their journey to avoid inconvenience.
Speaking to the media, DC Ramban highlighted that all emergency services were in place during the recent snowfall and rainfall to assist the public. He assured that adequate manpower and machinery have been stationed at critical locations to respond swiftly to any emergency arising from future weather disturbances.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed essential services and road connectivity in Banihal with SDM Rizwan Asgar, and other officers. He instructed concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, while maintaining quality standards.
Additionally, the District Administration has mobilized teams for market inspections, focusing on availability and quality of essential commodities, including food items.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the public to use water and electricity judiciously to ensure consistent services delivery across the district.
