DC Ramban reviews progress achieved under Tuberculosis Eradication program

RAMBAN, JANUARY 13:  Deputy Commissioner Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today conducted an important meeting to assess the strides made in the district under Tuberculosis eradication program.

The Chief Medical Officer highlighted the progress recorded. He said nearly 92% of the targeted 14,000 tests have been completed, revealing a meager 2.2% prevalence of Tuberculosis, with detection of 290 positive cases.

Reflecting the proactive approach of the DC Baseer ul Haq, 17,000 individuals underwent tuberculosis screening during the Vikshit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. 

Panchayat-wise categorization showcased significant achievements, with 22 panchayats declared TB-free, 56 in the yellow zone (1-2 cases), and 22 in the red zone (5-6 cases).

Deputy Commissioner issued a resounding directive for departmental collaboration, emphasizing the need to track even mild symptom cases. 

A district-wide awareness campaign on tuberculosis symptoms was underscored, aiming for widespread knowledge.

Further, he urged the meticulous tracking of undetected cases and their subsequent treatment. Block Development Officers were tasked with supporting health officials in rural areas, while a stringent follow-up mechanism for patients post-treatment, spanning at least six months, was mandated.

In a compassionate move, DC Ramban impressed for making awareness to promote “Nikshe Mitra,” an initiative where individuals adopt TB patients, providing crucial assistance for recovery through the provision of a food basket. With these strategic measures, Ramban strides closer to its goal of becoming tuberculosis-free under the  leadership of Deputy Commissioner Baseer ul Haq Choudhary.
