DC Reasi chairs District Road Safety Committee meeting

REASI, JULY 27: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan today chaired the District Road Safety Committee meeting to deliberate on road safety measures in the district and review the implementation of the road safety plan.


The meeting extensively discussed the road safety action plan, the Road Safety Act, road signage and traffic calming measures. Detailed reports on tasks assigned to different departments during previous meetings were also reviewed.


He directed XENs from PWD and PMGSY to identify critical spots and submit their reports by August 15. He also instructed the installation of crash barriers at these critical locations. Additionally, the DC emphasized the immediate start of a special drive for the removal of encroachments and called for audits of road safety and bridges.


In a bid to increase awareness, the DC suggested that schools and colleges should dedicate one day a week during morning assemblies to educate students on road etiquette, parking etiquette and traffic rules. He also stressed the timely disbursement of compensation related to road safety.


ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, SE PWD Romesh Kumar, Joint Director CPO Narinder Kumar, XENs PWD and PMGSY, I/C CMO Dr. Ashok Kumar, Principal GDC Pouni Prem Singh, Dy. SP (HQ) Neeraj Padyar, ARTO Neeraj Sharma and other officers attended the meeting.
