DC Reasi chairs NCORD meeting

REASI, September 22: A meeting of District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was held today under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Reasi Babila Rakwal in the video conference hall of DC Office in order to discuss the comprehensive strategy to counter the menace of drug abuse in the District.

The DM reviewed the implementation of the measures taken and progress achieved to eliminate drug abuse and its peddling from the Reasi District.

At the outset, the DM took a detailed appraisal from concerned members of NCORD Committee regarding the present scenario of drug related occurrences, areas of concern, hot spots of drug abuse in the District.

In a threadbare discussion, DM took feedback from the all the nodal officers. DDNodal officer Bhomag block Mohd. Anwar Banday PO Poshan stated that eight panchayats within block Bhomag have been declared as drug free panchayats. She exhorted upon other designated nodal officers of the blocks to regularly visit their respective allotted blocks and take feedback from all the stakeholders of the society and follow the necessary parameters for declaring the panchayats as Nasha Mukt.

The DM also laid thrust on further intensifying IEC campaigns at Schools and Colleges levels to sensitize students and common masses about ill effects of drugs as well as encouraging healthy activities and hobbies to discourage drug abuse.

She directed the concerned officers to ask the owners of all medical shops, clinical establishments to install CCTV cameras for surveillance with regard to the containment of sale of psychotropic drugs.

The District Magistrate emphasized that the Reasi Administration has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug suppliers and traffickers.

SSP Reasi Amit Gupta, ADDC Jyoti Slathia, ADC Abdual Star, SDM Katra Deepak Dubey, Chief Agriculture and Horticulture Officer, District Social Officer, CMO Reasi, Drug Inspector, Dy. SP Reasi Neeraj Padyar and other concerned officers present in the meeting.
