DC Reasi launches cyclothon, anti-drug rally to promote fitness, discourage drug abuse
REASI, March 24: Deputy Commissioner, Babila Rakwal flagged off a cyclothon drug de-addiction rally under Fit India. The event aimed to promote walking, cycling and running while discouraging drug abuse.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the objective was to revive daily physical fitness programmes and engage students in sports activities for their physical and mental well-being. She advised students to participate in sports and games for all-round development and to spread the message of fitness in society.
Later, an Anti-Drug Rally was flagged off from the DC Office Complex in Reasi with students from different schools participating. During the rally, students carried placards and raised slogans to raise awareness about staying away from drugs.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan has been launched to provide institutional support and facilitate community outreach programmes to make society free from harmful addictions such as alcohol and drug abuse. She emphasised the need for joint efforts to break the supply chain and bring perpetrators of drug abuse to justice.
The district administration is committed to weaning youth away from drugs, and participants were urged to disseminate awareness about the ill effects of drugs in villages and nearby schools.
Among those present were ADDC Jyoti Salathia, CPO Sunita Kanchan, ACD Anirudh Rai, CMO, CEO, DIO Rajinder Digra, DSWO Pallvi Sharma, DTO and other district officers along with various officers.
