DC Reasi reviews working of Legal Metrology & Mining Departments
REASI, NOVEMBER 23: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Vishesh Mahajan today conducted a thorough review of the working of Legal Metrology and Mining Department in two separate meetings.
Giving an overview of the LMD, Assistant Controller Pushkar Raj provided a comprehensive presentation on the department’s schemes and programs for the fiscal year 2023-24.
Emphasis was placed on routine checking along the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track to ensure compliance with Maximum Retail Price (MRP) regulations, particularly in shops dealing with dry fruits and Parshad.
The DDC urged the Legal Metrology Officer to take action against violations, creating a fair marketplace for pilgrims.
Concerns about the quality of fuel at petrol pumps were addressed, with the DDC advocating for regular inspections and mandating CCTV installations for transparency. Additionally, hotel pricing within the district was scrutinized, prompting inspections and assessments to ensure fair rates for tourists.
In another meeting with the Mining Department, the DDC reviewed the formulation of the District Mining Plan. The District Mineral Officer outlined the current status of mining blocks, detailing plans for their renewal.
The DDC emphasized adherence to specified timelines for approving new mining plans and urged strict action against illegal mining activities in the district.
These initiatives aim to uphold standards, protect consumer rights, and ensure a transparent and fair business environment in the entire Reasi district.
