DC reviews execution of Water Conservation projects in Poonch District

POONCH, JANUARY 27: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal today convened a meeting to assess the progress under the Jal Sanchy Jan Bhagidari initiative. The meeting brought together officers from across the line departments.


The DC underscored the critical need for conservation measures amid growing challenges related to water scarcity. The Executive Engineer Jal Shakti provided an update on the initiative, detailing the latest advancements in schemes and the collaborative role of different departments in ensuring effective implementation.


Key indicators of the Jal Sanchy Jan Bhagidari initiative were thoroughly discussed, including the development of check dams, ponds, rooftop water harvesting structures, open well recharges, and the renovation of traditional water bodies.


The DC stressed the importance of completing targeted projects within the prescribed timelines, urging all officials to work with dedication and efficiency.


To bolster monitoring, the DC directed the Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti to nominate a designated Nodal Officer and an Assistant Nodal Officer for the initiative, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to deadlines.


The meeting saw participation from various officials, including the ACD, ACP, DFO(T), CMO DEPO and other concerned officers, all committed to making the Jal Sanchy Jan Bhagidari initiative a success for Poonch district.
