DC reviews performance of banks at DLRC/DCC meeting
UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 17: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, chaired a meeting of the District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex. The meeting reviewed the performance of banks in terms of deposits and advances for the quarter ending September 2024, in alignment with the Annual Credit Plan for 2024-25.
Detailed discussions were held on key areas, including sector-wise achievements in lending to Priority and Non-Priority Sectors under the Annual Credit Plan. The meeting also evaluated credit disbursements under Government Sponsored Schemes, issuance of Kisan Credit Cards, the Special Credit Facility for Street Vendors (PM-SVANIDHI), financial support to Joint Liability Farming Groups of Bhoomi Heen Kissan, the Financial Inclusion Plan (FIP) for the district, the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana and progress in opening new bank branches.
The Deputy Commissioner urged officers to organize financial literacy awareness camps in collaboration with other departments at the Panchayat level to ensure grassroots level benefits.
She encouraged bankers to consult relevant departments before rejecting sponsored loan cases, emphasising a target of zero rejections. Furthermore, she advised banks to engage with stakeholders to accelerate the delivery of banking benefits to disadvantaged sections, thereby improving their socio-economic conditions.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the importance of increasing the Credit-Deposit ratio by focusing on potential areas and stressed the need for better coordination between banks and government departments to achieve this goal.
