DC reviews post Snowfall/ Rainfall situation at Bandipora
BANDIPORA, JANUARY 31: In order to review the post snowfall and rainfall situation across the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel Ur Rehman today chaired a meeting and undertook a thorough assessment of the prevailing situation to ensure the efficient functioning of essential services and infrastructure.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by the inclement weather, the DC directed for immediate attention to critical areas including Gurez subdivision and other higher reaches of the district with a particular focus on the mechanical engineering department and power supply.
The DC emphasized the need for proactive measures to address potential issues arising from adverse weather conditions which includes prioritizing snow clearance operations, inspecting the functionality of machinery, and ensuring that all the essential services departments, especially mechanical engineering departments is well-equipped to handle emergency situations.
It was given out that Gurez has received 8-10 Inch snow accumulation and higher reaches of mainland Bandipora like Sirander, Kudara, Bothu have received around 3-4 inch snow accumulation due to overnight snowfall. Consequently, snow clearance machines have been pressed into service since early morning and internal roads of Gurez like Achoora, Markoot, Kanzalwan and mainland Bandipora roads like Sirander, Kudara, Bothu have been cleared.
It was further mentioned that there have been no major disruptions in other essential services like drinking water, healthcare services, etc.
The meeting was attended by CPO, ACD, ExEn PHE Bandipora, Tehsildar Bandipora, EO MC Hajin, Control Room and other officials while as SDM Gurez, SDM Sumbal, OC BEACON, ExEn PDD, MED, and other concerned officials joined the meeting through virtual mode.
