DC reviews progress on Rajouri-Thananandi-Surankote Road Project

RAJOURI, OCTOBER 10: The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, convened a crucial meeting today to address the pressing issues hindering the progress of the Rajouri-Thananandi-Surankote road project.


During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for swift action to resolve outstanding matters, particularly the assessment of structures at Hasplote and Atti. It was brought into the notice that some of these issues are currently Sub-Judice in court, where a ruling has been issued instructing adherence to the already submitted Detailed Project Report (DPR) concerning the alignment of the project. DC underscored the importance of complying with the court’s directives to facilitate the project’s timely advancement.


Addressing the Atti bypass, it was reported that the completion of Section 11 process has been done. However, objections have been raised and submitted.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the AC Defence to expeditiously resolve these objections within the next fifteen days, thereby enabling to move forward with subsequent steps promptly.


In a significant development, it was decided that a joint demarcation committee comprising officials from the Public Works Department, Police and the Magistrate will conduct a site visit to Atti. This collaborative effort aims to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the existing structures and execute peg marking to facilitate the progression of the project.


Furthermore, regarding the demarcation of state land under the jurisdiction of Government Degree College (GDC) Thanamandi that falls within the alignment of the Rajouri-Thananandi-Surankote road, a dedicated team of officials will visit the site to undertake the necessary demarcation activities within three days.


The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all stakeholders to ensure that the road project proceeds efficiently, recognizing its significance in enhancing connectivity and fostering economic development in the region.
