DC Shopian flags-off 100 Orchardists for training programme at SKUAST (K)
Training under MIDH (TSP) aimed to sensitise them on modern agricultural interventions
SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 28: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today flagged-off a group of 100 orchardists for one-day training programme under MIDH (TSP) to the Shalimar Campus of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K).
Speaking on the occasion, the DC that this initiative is part of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) and impressed upon them to avail the opportunity and get trained for better agricultural outputs in their farms back home.
The training aimed to equip the orchardists with advanced techniques in horticulture, including modern farming practices, pest management, and ways to enhance crop yield and quality.
He said that the programme reflects the Administration’s commitment for empowering farmers, especially those from tribal communities by providing them with knowledge and tools to adopt innovative agricultural practices.
The Horticulture Department also distributed horticulture kits among the Orchardists at the occasion. The distribution function of which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner.
The kits are designed to aid them in implementing modern horticulture practices required for orchard management.
The Chief Horticulture Officer, Shopian, Horticulture Development Officer, Officers and officials of horticulture department were present.
