DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Chanapora
Seeks support of civil society to combat drug menace
Inspects patient care facilities at PHC Chanapora
SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 01:- In order to listen to the public issues, grievances at their door steps and to ensure on spot resolution of their developmental issues, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Wednesday held a Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chanapora under weekly public outreach programme.
Besides local SMC Corporators, Civil Society members, the programme witnessed large participation of people from Chanapora, Lal Nagar, Gulshan Nagar, Natipora, Rambagh, Bagh-i-Mehtab and other adjoining areas of Chanapora Tehsil of Srinagar District.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, public representatives, delegations and scores of individuals projected various developmental issues and demands before the Deputy Commissioner including augmentation of drainage network system in Gulshan Nagar, Pathan Colony and near Chanapora Gurudwara, installation of street lights, shifting of Tehsil Office to main Chanapora, maintenance of public parks, levelling and filling of playground, setting up of drinking water ROs and toilet facilities at important public places from Rambagh to Bagh-i-Mehtab, speeding up of ongoing work on alternate road at Natipora area and other issues.
After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the Deputy Commissioner sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp.
He also assured the people of Chanapora Tehsil that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be looked into on priority for their speedy redressal.
The DC also gave on the spot directions to the concerned Officers for time bound redressal of the public issues.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on-ground assessment for time bound redressal. He said District Administration Srinagar is holding such public grievances redressal camps in urban areas besides rural and far flung areas in the District to address public issues at their doorsteps.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner sought public cooperation in eradication of drug menace from the society. He said persons affected from drug abuse are treated as victims and are being provided proper counselling and guidance for their rehabilitation. He said the District Administration has also activated Digital Interface for faceless Consent by victims of drug abuse for their Tele Counselling and Rehabilitation.
The DC further said that the Lieutenant Governor led Administration has adopted zero tolerance towards drug peddling and persons involved in such heinous crime shall be dealt strictly to save young generations from this dreadful menace.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also handed over land passbooks to the lawful land owners of the area.
The people also thanked the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar for holding Public Grievance Redressal Camp in the area for the first time.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Primary Health Centre(PHC) Chanapora and took stock of its function. He inspected various sections of the facility and took first hand appraisal of the healthcare facilities being provided to the patients.
The DC also interacted with the Hospital Staff and advised them to ensure all possible healthcare facilities to the patients.
On the occasion, the local people demanded that PHC Chanapora should be upgraded as a Sub-District Hospital besides making it functional round the clock for the convenience of the people of local areas.
The programme was attended by General Manager DIC, Hamida Akhtar, Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jameel, Chief Education Officer, Mohammad Shabir, LDM, Abdul Majeed, Executive Engineer, PHE, Ishfaq Ahmad, Tehsildar Chanapora, Saqib Saleem and other senior Officers of the district.
