DC stresses on regular health check-up of children at AWCs

REASI, JANUARY 21: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today chaired a significant meeting to review the functioning of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Department in the district. The meeting focused on the implementation of the schemes aimed at improving maternal and child health, with an emphasis on expanding coverage in underserved areas.


At the outset, Project Officer (ICDS) Mohamed Anwar Banday presented an overview of the department’s operations and highlighted key achievements and challenges. The Deputy Commissioner directed Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) to conduct weekly visits to Anganwadi Centres, especially in remote areas, to monitor their functionality and ensure quality services delivery.


She further underscored the importance of regular health check-ups for children and mothers at Anganwadi Centres, instructing officials to maintain detailed health indicator records for better tracking and planning. Additionally, she ordered the phased relocation of Anganwadi Centres to government buildings to improve accessibility and infrastructure.


The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for enhanced coverage of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) in the Arnas and Mahore areas, ensuring that eligible women receive timely support.
