DCC Jammu Rural pays homage to Dr B.R Ambedkar on his 132nd birth anniversary

Congress made significant contributions towards empowerment of downtrodden sections of society: Hari Singh Chib

JAMMU, April 13: District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Rural today celebrated the 132nd birth anniversary of Babasaheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in a function organized at Muthi in Jammu North Assembly segment.

Paying tributes to Dr. B.R Ambedkar, Hari Singh Chib, President DCC Jammu Rural, remembered the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in framing the Indian Constitution wherein the provision for the welfare and the upliftment of poor, downtrodden and each and every section irrespective of caste, creed colour or religion was kept and approved by the Constituent Assembly of the country.

Hari Singh Chib described Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar as one of the towering personalities of modern India who will always be remembered for his outstanding contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in this country. He said that India after gained independence in 1947, Ambedkar accepted Congress’ proposal to serve as the country’s first Law Minister and was appointed chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee. The Indian constitution formed under his chairmanship, is one of the best document in the World which takes care of the aspirations of the largest pluralistic society in the World, he added.

Hari Singh said that Dr. Ambedkar worked closely with the Congress party leaders in delivering the Indian Constitution and his ideology of social equity and vision of a society free of discrimination is in consonance with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.

“Congress is the only Party that has made significant contributions towards the empowerment of downtrodden sections of the society, he added.

Chib appealed to the participants to follow the path shown by Baba Sahib for equality and social justice and to bring about complete harmony and unity in diversity. He also cautioned against the forces of exploitation and hatred which goes against his philosophy and sprit of the constitution.  

On the occasion, Rajni Bala Corporator Ward No 60, Som Nath Sharma President BCC Patta Paloura, Om Parkash President Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Dr Raj Paul Hans former Director Animal Husbandry, Tarun Vaid, Virender Mehta, Madan Singh Chib, Kuran Manhas and Nisha Kumari also paid floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar and remembered for his outstanding contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in this country.
