DDC assesses progress of Jal Jeevan Mission Projects in Reasi district

REASI, APRIL 17: District Development Commissioner Nidhi Malik, who is also Chairperson of the District Jal Jeevan Mission, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) initiatives in the district.
The meeting focused on physical and financial progress, status of completed works, Har Ghar Jal Certifications, number of water quality tests conducted, geo-tagged documentation, and submission of Action Taken Reports.

A detailed presentation was delivered, highlighting that out of 121 Water Supply Schemes sanctioned under JJM in Reasi district, 73 have been completed. A scheme-wise and subdivision-wise analysis was conducted to identify implementation bottlenecks and track progress.

The DDC emphasised the importance of timely and quality execution of all works. She issued strict directives for action against contractors causing unwarranted delays and instructed all Executive Engineers to conduct regular field visits for inspection and monitoring. She further directed the Superintending Engineer and concerned Executive Engineers to submit detailed status reports for each scheme.

Special instructions were given to Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Dharmari, to coordinate closely with SDM Mahore to address local challenges and ensure early completion of pending and non-functional schemes in the Mahore subdivision.
The DDC sought written explanation from both Executive Engineers for their failure to commission the water supply works under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Despite repeated meetings, clear directions, and multiple extensions of the target deadlines, the work remains incomplete, depriving local residents of access to safe and adequate drinking water. The DDC has expressed serious concern over the continued inaction and has demanded a prompt and satisfactory response from the concerned officer.

The DDC highlighted that the meeting underscored the administration’s commitment to achieving 100% functional tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission in a timely and efficient manner.

Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, Superintending Engineer Bodh Raj Bhagat, Executive Engineers Rakesh Gupta (Reasi), Kishore Kumar (Dharmari), AE, officials from JPDCL and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
