DDC Bandipora reviews works/ projects of Power Sector

Emphasizes efficient maintenance of transformers & feeders to ensure reliable power supply

BANDIPORA, JANUARY 30: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather, Tuesday reviewed the work and progress of ongoing projects undertaken by the Power Development Department (PDD) in the district.

The meeting held a detailed review of the progress of various electrification projects, including completion of urban/rural electrification projects, augmentation of existing infrastructure and upgradation of transformers.

Sharing details regarding the power scenario in the district, the SE said that the department has issued 55514 consumer connections. He said the total demand for electricity in the district during summer stands 100 MW, while during winters, it stands at 163 MW.

The meeting was informed that there is a network of 3 Grid Stations, 16 receiving stations, 2083 distribution transformers across the district.

The SE informed the chair that remarkable achievements during 2023-24 include connecting Gurez to the Electricity Grid for the first time since Independence. The SE informed that ED Bandipora has the lowest AT&C losses in the entire KPDCL.

The meeting was informed that under UT/District Capex works, out of 54 allotted works/projects, 20 projects have already been completed. It was further informed that Rs 478 lac were allocated for these projects, out of which 339 lac have been released while as a total of Rs 214 lac have been spent on the projects so far.

The DDC directed the department to take proactive measures to minimize power outages, particularly during winters. He stressed the efficient maintenance of transformers and feeders to ensure reliable power supply.

The meeting also focused on addressing public grievances related to power issues. The DDC urged the department to establish a robust grievance redressal mechanism to ensure prompt resolution of complaints.

Emphasis was laid on timely completion of ongoing projects, proactive maintenance, and efficient grievance redressal.

The DDC said that the district administration is committed to providing seamless power supply to the people of Bandipora. He said that the Power Development Department is working tirelessly to complete ongoing projects and implement new initiatives to enhance power infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi, Superintending Engineer (s), Executive Engineer PDD Bandipora, and Sub-Divisional Officers from various wings of PDD including STD, Projects.
