DDC Chairman, PD Samagra Shiksha inaugurate, lay foundation stone of Rs 3 crore projects in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, February 25: Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur, Lal Chand and Project Director, SAMAGRA SHIKSHA, Er. Deep Raj on Saturday laid the foundation of new education sector projects and inaugurated completed works under the SAMAGRA SHIKSHA during an extensive tour of Udhampur District.
During the tour, the Project Director also assessed the Ground level scenario regarding Quality of education & availability of Infrastructure in the schools of the district.
The DDC Chairman was accompanied by Vice Chairperson Juhi Pathania; DDC member Tikri Ashu Sharma; BDC Chairperson Nisha Sharma. They laid the foundation stone for Construction of Innovative Laboratory and Model Kindergarten costing Rs. 2.00 Crore in GHSS Tikri, Udhampur. Bilal Rashid, Deputy Director Planning Samagra-Shiksha, Chief Education Officer Arvind Koul, Ex-En SED, Rajesh Bhagat and other senior officers of the Department were also present.
Addressing the students at GHSS Tikri, the PD highlighted the initiatives under the Samagra Shiksha and emphasized upon the effective implementation of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Policy to promote inclusive, equitable & contextualized opportunities for all children below 6 years of age for their developing their learning capacity. He also reiterated that Principal Secretary, Alok Kumar, IRS has time and again, asked to ensure availability of the quality infrastructure in all the Educational institutions even in the remotest areas of the UT of JK, for reaching out to Students of all levels, to fulfil the educational needs of the area.
During the interactive session with teachers & Students, PD Samagra laid stress on increasing the enrolment in Govt. Schools and encouraged the teachers to impart quality education to the students. He said that the New Education Policy calls for following Child- Centred curriculum in letter and spirit by the teaching community. He further highlighted the importance of Vocationalisation and Contextualization of Education. He assured everyone of full support and cooperation of the Directorate in capacity building and providing any type of assets, for the students, to provide best education in a conducive & suitable environment, besides adequate opportunities to push them towards success in their life.
He also shared that, it is the vision of the Govt. of J&K to promote the Digital Education, so that every Student while sitting in a far-flung area of the UT, may have equal opportunities like a student sitting at New Delhi. He informed that the Department has established 3000 ICT/CAL labs and is in process of establishing 2000 Smart Class rooms/ICT Labs in the UT in coming months, besides more than 1100 Vocational labs, which shall surely improve the Learning outcomes of the students. He asked for improving the academic standard with various interventions through the Teaching learning process, capacity building of Teaching fraternity, & making available the best resources. to Students.
Chairperson DDC Udhampur Lal Chand, in his address appreciated the efforts of all the associated officers of the School Education Department headed by Principal Secretary, Alok Kumar, for reaching out to them & for providing best facilities, upgraded Infrastructure especially in a school which was established in 1937 (Pre-independence). Vice Chairperson, DDC Council, DDC member Tikri, BDC Chairperson Tikri, DD Planning Samagra, CEO Udhampur, Principal HSS Tikri, also spoke on the occasion.
Later, the Project Director inaugurated the School Building at Kaghote Udhampur, inspected Civil work at Hr. Secondary School Ramanagar, HSS Sirah in Udhampur District.
On the way, he also inaugurated a School Building Costing Rs. 38.22 lacs at HSS Jajhar Kotli falling in District Jammu. He also visited the MS Sangli Katwalt, situated at far Flung area of Udhampur and became the First UT level officer, who reached there after covering long distance on foot, where he interacted with the pre-Primary Students, Teacher and their Parents and assured them all the basic facilities in the next 6 months. The programmes at different locations, were also attended by Teaching cum Non-Teaching Staff of various Schools, members of PRIs and prominent citizens of the area, besides the student’s community.
