DDC Chairman Samba inaugurates Mega Programme at KVK Samba
SAMBA, March 9: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu today organised Mega Programme under SCSP Project.
The programme was conducted to distribute agriculture inputs to the SC farmers of district Samba under the dynamic leadership of Professor. N.A. Ganai, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, under the directions of Dr. S.K. Gupta Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu and direct supervision of Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Samba. The programme was attended by more than 150 farmers from different villages of district Samba.
At the outset, Prof. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Samba, welcomed all the dignitaries as well as farmers/farm women of the district. He throws a detail light on the various initiatives of KVK Samba in increasing the livelihood security of the farming community in the district. He also disclosed that various new initiatives will also be taken very soon for the betterment of the society and farmers particularly women from rural area. He also highlighted the importance of millets and the new area to be covered under millets during this year in order to boost the millet production in the district.
On this occasion, Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman District Development Council Samba was the Chief Guest whereas Sh. Balwan Singh Vice-Chairman DDC Samba and Sh. Rajinder Singh, ADDC Samba were the Guest of Honours.
Speaking on the occasion, Keshav Dutt Sharma appreciated the efforts of KVK Samba led by Prof. Sanjay Khajuria and his team for conducting such a Mega event for the farmers from S.C. community of the district. He urged upon the farming community to remain in touch with the KVK Samba for any technical help in order to boost their agriculture economy.
Balwan Singh, Vice-Chairman DDC Samba applauded the contributions of KVK Samba and their efforts for the welfare of the farmers and highlighted that they are the ones who put your heart and soul into the soil to give life and food to all of us.
Rajinder Singh, ADDC Samba highlighted the achievements of the KVK Samba in uplifting the marginalised sections of the society. He assured every type of help to to KVK samba as well as to the farming community of the district. Pritam Chand, Sarpanch Samlah exhorted the farmers to avail the benefits of the various initiatives of the GOI for their economic upliftment. He advised them to remain in touch with scientific community of KVK Samba.
During the programme, Stalls of various exhibits like bamboo handicrafts, seeds of different crops as well specimen of the vegetables and farm machinery was also displayed for the awareness of the farmers/farm women of the district. The technical bulletins/literature on novel farming practices were also distributed among the all the participants for their latest knowledge.
During the programme, Dr Vishal Sharma, HOD, Electronics Govt. MAM PG College Jammu and National Expert on Renewable Energy explained in detail about the various solar energy schemes in the agriculture sector for the benefits of the farming community. Dr. Neeraj Sharma, IQAC Coordinator, Govt. MAM PG College Jammu exhorted the farmers to adopt new technologies like hydroponics, leaf mould/compost to improve their income.
Dr. Saurav Gupta, Scientist (Entomology) delivered and expert lecture on natural farming and exhorted the farmers to adopt new technologies to improve their livelihood security.
Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma Scientist (Animal Sciences) discussed about the scope of the dairy and poultry farming in the district. He emphasized the farmers to adopt both these for raising their socio-economic status. Dr. Shalini also delivered her lecture on the importance of soil testing as well as soil health card for the benefit of the farming community.
A farmer-Scientist interaction was also held on the occasion. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Dr. Sourav Gupta. Other who actively assisted and makes the event successful includes Bharat Bhushan Stenographer, Tajinder Singh and Pawandeep Singh of the KVK Samba. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Pritam Chand Sarpanch Samlah.
