DDC Kupwara chairs Mega Block Diwas at Gazriyal Kralpora

KUPWARA, AUGUST 3: In order to take stock of essential amenities, progress of developmental activities and grievances faced by the general public, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today chaired a mega Block Diwas programme at Gazriyal in block Kralpora of Kupwara district.


Among others, ACP Kupwara, CMO, CEO, EXN R&B BDO Kralpora, DSWO, Tehsildar and other District and Sectoral Officers and field functionaries attended the mega block diwas programme.


On the occasion, DDC planted a tree sapling in the compound of Middle School Guzriyal to mark the celebration of ongoing Swatchtta Pakhwada.


The Block Diwas proceedings were started with the singing of the National Anthem.


Speaking at the occasion, the DDC said that the Block Diwas is an important platform devised by the UT Government through which the Administration comes to the doorsteps of the people to listen to their grievances for redressal.


On the occasion, people including youth and senior citizens from different areas of Kralpora block put forth various grievances and demands before the DDC.


The grievances & demands pertained to drinking water, replacement of electricity poles, conductor, hike in power bills, macadamization of local roads and other things.


Replying to the issue of water supply, the DDC said that a water supply scheme has already been sanctioned to Guzriyal village which is targeted to be completed this year which will address the water scarcity issue.


She said that a huge number of works worth Rs.600 crore are being executed under Jal Jeevan Mission across the district to ensure water supply in every household.


Replying on the demand for a playground, the DDC asked concerned Tehsildar to identify the state land or Kahcharie for construction of the playground.


Regarding celebration of Swatchtta Pakhwada, the DDC asked the people and the concerned departments to run a voluntary cleanliness drive in and around the playgrounds, schools and markets in block Karlpora to generate awareness among masses for cleanliness and sanitation.


She added that the segregation sheds were constructed by the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj department for proper disposal of solid waste from villages to keep them clean & green. She sought cooperation from the people for making the solid waste management successful in villages by paying a nominal charge.


Referring to the self employment generating schemes, the DDC appealed to the unemployed educated youth to come forward and take benefit under different schemes of the Government like PMEGP and HADP to generate their own livelihood.


The DDC appealed the people to celebrate the Independence Day with same fervor as they did celebrate last year.


Later, the DDC visited the shrine of Baba Abdullah Gazi at Guzriyal and paid obeisance there. She also interacted with the managing committee of the shrine and got feedback on key issues.
