DDC Kupwara reviews implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin

Asks officers to work in coordination to ensure cleanliness in villages

KUPWARA, October 03: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) in the district.

During the meeting, the DC took a detailed review of the status/ implementation of SBM-G and waste management plan in rural areas of the district.

Reviewing the component wise status under SBM-G, Phase-II, the DDC was informed that 300 Segregation Sheds, 336 Community Soakage Pits, 232 Community Compost Pits, 14 Plastic Waste Management Units and 44 CSCs were taken up. Out of these, 184 Segregation Sheds, 188 Community Soakage Pits, 160 Community Compost Pits, 2 Plastic Waste Management Units and 7 CSCs have been completed so far.

Ayushi impressed upon the officers and field functionaries of RDD to take the SBM on top most priority in the district and work in complete coordination and synergy so that cleanliness of villages of Kupwara district is ensured. She asked the officers to sensitize the people regarding segregation of solid and wet waste at household level for better waste management across the rural areas of the district.

The DDC also reviewed Swachhta Pakhwada which was held from 15 September to 1st October and was informed that 26802 people have participated in 252 activities held under the Pakhwada and 4644 events were created and closed on October 1st.

ACD Kupwara, ACP, BDOs, Engineers of REW and other concerned attended the meeting.
