DDC Rajouri directs officials to work towards revival of Cooperative Societies
RAJOURI, March 02: District Development Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, conducted a comprehensive review of the cooperative sector in Rajouri today and directed officials to take action to revive the cooperative societies in the district.
The Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives Society explained that cooperative societies are voluntary associations of individuals, usually formed by farmers or other groups in rural areas, to promote their economic interests. Regular audits are conducted to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the cooperative society and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. It is also essential to collect data on the Performance Audit Committees (PACs) associated with the societies, responsible for overseeing financial transactions in a transparent and accountable manner, for officials to evaluate their performance and pinpoint areas for improvement.
During the review meeting, DDC Vikas Kundal expressed his concern about the declining number of cooperative societies in the district and emphasized the importance of reviving them for the benefit of farmers and other stakeholders. He directed officials to conduct a comprehensive survey of the existing cooperative societies and identify the reasons for their decline. Furthermore, the DDC instructed officials to devise a comprehensive plan to revive these societies and make them more functional and effective.
In his statement, DDC Kundal highlighted the crucial role that cooperative societies play in the development of the rural economy.
