DDC Shopian chairs District Implementation Committee meeting

1956 Artisans approved for benefits under PM Vishwakarma scheme


SHOPIAN, OCTOBER 17: The District Implementation Committee (DIC) under PM Vishwakarma scheme met today at Mini Secretariat Shopian in order to facilitate second tier verification and selection of beneficiaries of the district.


The meeting was chaired by the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar.


During the meeting, 1960 cases of artisans were submitted; out of 1956 cases were approved for selection for benefits under the scheme.


The scheme offers various benefits to people engaged in 18 recognised trades including barber, tailor, basket maker, boat maker, potter, washerman, mason, carpenter, cobbler, toy maker, gold Smith, etc.


The scheme offers skill upgradation through training, provision of tool kits incentive worth Rs15,000, credit support in the form of collateral free loans, marketing support and incentive for digital transactions to the approved beneficiaries engaged in these 18 trades.
