DDMA organises 03 Days Capacity Building Disaster Preparedness programme at Gurez
BANDIPORA, MAY 31: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Bandipora in collaboration with Sub Divisional Administration Gurez, SDRF, F&ES, and Education Department organised three days Capacity Building Disaster preparedness programme in Gurez Sub Division of Bandipora.
The programme commenced on Thursday with ‘Community Based Disaster Awareness Programmes’ at Govt. Degree College Dawar and Boys Higher Secondary School Dawar.
The programme was aimed to raise awareness about disaster preparedness and build community capacity for effective response.
During the event, elaborative demonstrations were conducted to impart practical knowledge to the participants which included disaster management, common regional disasters, preparedness measures, emergency response, first aid, rescue techniques, and community-based risk reduction initiatives.
Resource persons delivered lectures and interactive sessions besides educational materials were provided to participants.
The programme sought to empower the local community, especially the younger generation, with essential knowledge and skills to mitigate disaster impacts and enhance resilience.
On day two today Community Based Disaster Awareness Programmes were conducted at Govt. Higher Secondary Schools in Dawar and Izmarg, Gurez.
The awareness programmes served as a powerful platform to equip the young generation with essential knowledge and necessary skills regarding disaster management besides promoting preparedness and resilience within the local community.
