DECC Ramban organises Job Fair
RAMBAN, JULY 04: The District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC) cum Model Career Centre Ramban held a highly successful job fair today, drawing hundreds of eager job seekers to its premises.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of General Manager District Industries Centre (DIC) Ravinder Kumar; Assistant Director Employment Amit Kumar and Director Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) Harwinder Singh.
After the inauguration, Amit Kumar highlighted the crucial role of the Employment Department in addressing unemployment issues. He reiterated the department’s commitment to supporting unemployed youth by providing them a platform to connect with potential employers. He also urged the participating companies to maximize youth engagement, thereby offering a plethora of career opportunities.
In addition to job placements, the event featured a comprehensive Counselling and Guidance session. Amit Kumar emphasized the department’s efforts in linking job seekers with employers.
Aamir Hassan, Career Counseling Officer, discussed the JK Employment Portal and introduced various self-employment schemes like Mumkin and Tejaswani. Lovepreet Singh, Young Professional, elaborated on the National Career Service under the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, detailing the processes for job registration, job fairs, and DigiSaksham courses available on the NCS portal.
Furthermore, Ravinder Kumar, General Manager DIC shared insights into schemes for industrial establishment and entrepreneurship under District Industries Centre Ramban and PMEGP Scheme.
The job fair saw enthusiastic participation, with over 250 job seekers applying for more than 400 vacancies. Notable companies such as Shriram Finance, Shriram Insurance, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, LIC, and Urban Money were among the nine employers present. By the end of the day, over 75 applicants were shortlisted, and one candidate received an on-the-spot appointment letter. Additionally, 200 candidates were registered with the employment department during the event.
Various departments, including the Rural Self Employment Institute, District Industries Centre Ramban and the Handloom and Handicrafts Department, also conducted on-the-spot awareness and registration drives for government schemes.
The DECC Ramban aims to continually provide a robust platform for the youth of District Ramban, enhancing their employability skills and offering a variety of services through both online and offline modes. The overwhelming response to this job fair underscores the vital role of DECC Ramban in empowering the youth and connecting them with valuable career opportunities.
